Stories of the Nakba: 75 Years Later
In honor of the 75th anniversary of the Nakba, PACC collected stories of the survivors of the 1948 Nakba and/or their direct descendants. To us in the diaspora, 1948 became and remains to be one of the most well-known and significant years in Palestinian history: it marked the official end of the British mandate over Palestine, the proclamation of the state of Israel, and the expulsion of Palestinians from conquered territories by Israeli forces, causing the dispersion of thousands of indigenous Palestinians, most of which to this day have not yet returned. However, we remind our community that the Nakba is not only an event in Palestine’s history, but continues to shape and exist in Palestine's present day reality.
