Poetry Competition

Introducing PACC’s second Poetry Competition

Words From the Heart – كلمات من القلب

Calling all English & Arabic writers: this is your opportunity to shine and showcase your pretty words to an audience of like-minded individuals.

Every season PACC will announce a theme for the competition and participants are asked to present a piece based on that specific theme.

The competition will be broken down by age groups:
11 years old and under
12 – 15 years old
16 – 18 years old
19 + years old

There will be a panel of judges selected by PACC to choose the first place, second place and third place winners from each group. Prizes will be handed out at the end of each Poetry Night. Plus, first place winners get published in PACC’s literary magazine! Competition is open to people of all backgrounds and ages.

Rules:

  • Poems MUST be between 10 to 40 lines, poems over 40 lines will automatically be disqualified
  • Poems can be written in English or Arabic
  • Poets are encouraged to follow any writing style they prefer
  • Limit one submission per person

This season’s theme is “Identity” – What defines who we are and how we identify ourselves? Do others perceive us the way we define ourselves — if not, does this create conflict?  What experiences shape our identities? How might race and culture affect our concept of identity?

Submission date will start on September 4, 2017.

Submission deadline: October 15, 2017
