Civic Engagement Coordinator

For our Clifton office, we are looking for a friendly, detail-oriented person to join our team and lead our civic engagement efforts. The ideal candidate is a spirited friendly person, loaded with positive energy and a passion for helping others.

Aim of Position: The Palestinian American Community Center (PACC) is seeking for immediate employment a Civic Engagement Coordinator to lead an unprecedented project, namely the establishment of a civic engagement network in Northern New Jersey. The Coordinator will be tasked with working closely with PACC staff to develop an infrastructure that will promote and conduct non partisan activities permissible within the scope of a non-profit 501c(3) organization.

  • Non Partisan Campaigns to encourage people to vote
  • Voter Registration
  • Non Partisan Candidate voter guide
  • Coordinate development of policies and priorities
  • Spotting and engaging with emerging leaders about PACC
  • Engagement with elected officials
    • Setting up a non partisan Internship Program

Meetings you are required to attend

  • Staff Meetings when needed
  • Bi-Weekly Meetings with the ED

Hours

  • Range of hours a week: 35 to 40 hours
  • You must arrange with the ED what your core hours will be.If you want to change your schedule, after we agreed on it, just give the ED a two days notice.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience in community education & organizing
  • Commitment to PACC’s mission, vision and core values
  • Ability to work with Arabs of all ages, ethnicity, social, economic and gender identities
  • Experience with civic and voter engagement strategies (i.e. phone banking, canvassing)
  • Knowledge about leading successful organizing campaigns
  • Proven ability to both work in a team and execute work with minimal supervision
  • Organized and able to self-manage to achieve goals and objectives
  • Excellent written, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Personal qualities include energy, enthusiasm, motivation, commitment, integrity, humor, optimism, a positive attitude, and the ability to motivate and listen to others
  • Proficiency in word, excel, Powerpoint and experience with database programs
  • Professionalism with diverse communities, colleagues, Board of Directors, funders, donors, and allies
  • Flexibility with work schedule; regular schedule to include some evenings and weekends and travel across New Jersey and Washington DC throughout the year
